WHAT IS KOMBUCHA

Aquela Kombucha is a fermented beverage, made out of a blend of green and black tea with sugar. The symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast, mostly known as SCOBY, consumes most of the sugar and theine, transforming the sweetened tea into a slightly carbonated elixir, full of organic acids and enzymes beneficial to our gut flora. From high quality only and 100% organic ingredients, the fermentation follows its natural course and we respect its ancient tradition.

O que é Kombucha?

Aquela Kombucha é chá fermentado, elaborado com base numa mistura de chá verde e preto com açúcar. A cultura simbiótica de bactérias e leveduras, mais conhecida por SCOBY, consome o açúcar e a teína na sua quase totalidade, transformando o chá num elixir levemente gaseificado, repleto de ácidos orgânicos e enzimas benéficas à flora intestinal. A partir de ingredientes de elevada qualidade e 100% biológicos, a fermentação segue o seu curso natural e nós respeitamos a sua tradição milenar.

The flavours of Aquela Kombucha are made from infusions and unpasteurised fruit juices, in order to preserve the integrity of the ingredients and take full advantage of their properties. 

As a principle, we use the best and most natural ingredients, favouring local suppliers and produce.

WHO ARE WE

Aquela Kombucha was born from a homemade experience, fueled by my desire to explore the miracle of fermentation, through this fascinating live tea that I came across by chance.

The project grew from my kitchen to what is today the first kombucha factory in Porto. The motivation was born from the act of sharing the “elixir of life” with others. The challenge was to adapt artisanal “know-how” to larger-scale production, without ever compromising its essence. 

Aquela Kombucha exists as a vehicle for positive change and it is for this purpose that I share it, in the hope that it catalyzes the discovery of new, healthier and fuller paths!

WHERE TO FIND US

Our brewery is located in the Bonfim neighbourhood, in Porto.
Soon, we will open Portugal’s first ever kombucha tap-room,
where you will be able to taste our more experimental
flavours and refill your own bottles using our bulk option.
